So Capcom could choose to falter behind the facts of "The EULA can't be enforced!!" and then be forced to pay financial damages while also hurting their relationship with a modeling agency that could've scouted them potential face and body models for future projects - as well as damaging their relationship with new modeling agencies that overheard that Capcom doesn't do shit to protect their clients' image. If they didn't, they could potentially be sued by the modeling agency for a breach of contract and be asked for financial compensation due to damages to the model and her image. There was probably a clause in their contract that would require Capcom to try and defend the model and shut down any of the unfortunate inevitable degen mods people were going to make.Ĭapcom is doing the bare minimum and more importantly showing that they are keeping their side of the contract in case there's some legal dispute later with the agency. Like the poster before said it's highly likely that the agency representing the face model for Ashley contacted Capcom and made them aware of these mods. However, when there's potential for legal fuckery Capcom is basically obligated to intervene. Hell, if I recall they actually have a pinned thread in the OG RE4 STEAM discussion board unofficially supporting the HD Project Texture Mod.
Capcom is pretty hands off and usually doesn't care enough to send cease and desists to modders. You're right that most developers and companies could give two shits about what their users do to their games unless it's an active threat to potential future projects or profits.
